Several communities are represented in the student body including Flintstone, Lookout Mountain, Fairview, Chickamauga, High Point, Kensington, McLemore’s Cove, and the city of Rossville. Our school is located 4.1 miles from the city of Fort Oglethorpe and 2.5 miles from the Tennessee/Georgia border. The site location is a rural area that sits next to the Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Military Park. Ridgeland High School was founded in 1989 and was formed as a result of merging two high schools: Chattanooga Valley High School and Rossville High School. The feeder school patterns are comprised of both Rossville Middle School and Chattanooga Valley Middle School; Cherokee Ridge Elementary School, Rossville Elementary School, Fairyland Elementary School, Chattanooga Valley Elementary School, and Stone Creek Elementary School. Ridgeland High School operates under the concept of academization. Every student is a member of an educational academy: Cyber Academy, College and Career Academy, Freshman Academy, Honors Academy, Sophomore Academy, and STEM Academy. Each academy strives to build relationships and offer flexible options to meet the learning needs and goals of all students. RHS Student Government Serving the Community The Student Government Association volunteered with the Backpack Blessings last Tuesday. Multiple volunteers helped assemble over 1,000 sack meals. Ransom signs with Reinhardt! Congratulations to Jade Ransom. She signed with Reinhardt University as a member of the soccer team for the 20/21 season! High Flying ROTC Cadets Last Thursday six JROTC Cadets got the chance to fly in a Civil Air Patrol Cessna-182 single-engine-prop aircraft! It was a beautiful day and a chance to make multiple flights over our High School and the Walker County area. The flying Cadets were: Shawn Ashley, AJ Walker, Dakota Veal, Olivia Blanchard, Joseph Smith, and Destin Wheeler. It was the first time flying for 5 of the 6 Cadets . . . they all loved the experience. Dunn chosen as the RHS Teacher of the Year! Congratulations to Mrs. Selina Dunn for being selected as Ridgeland High School’s teacher of the Year! Thank you for all that you do for the students and the school. Your hard work and dedication as an educator has been noticed by all. FCCLA Day at the Capitol FCCLA members attended FCCLA Day at the Capitol on Thursday, February 12. They enjoyed touring the State Capitol Building and learning about the history of Georgia as they explored the Capitol’s History Museum. Calling all student writers and artists!
